Day 15, 16, 17

Busy last few days enjoying every last moment of our trip, no time for blogging. We spent the days exploring and enjoying Edinburgh. Sandi did manage to find a fabric store... Day one we walked east on the Royal Mile to look at some Christimas stores (I was not part of the "we"). then we walked up the Royal Mile to Edinburgh Castle to tour the castle, the castle was sold out for the day so we had to book tickets online for the next day. This changed our plans and we decided to walk to the other end of the Rotal Mile to hike Arthur's Seat (one of the possible locations for Camelot).

We decided to "on our way" check out Gray Friar's Bobby for Gandma Benn and Great Grandma/Grandma Graham (Olga). I will refrain from comment at the risk of offending anyone, the whole time I was thinking of Joshua and how much he would have enjoyed this.

On our way to the hike I found a place that was carving up a whole pig and serving up buns of pork, of course I had to partake, delicious! The hike was pretty harsh (for Sandi & I) after several days of walking, Daniel and Gloria didn't seems to share the same evaluation of the difficulty. The hike gave us a great view of the city and surrounding area and the North Sea (embarassingly we had been calling it the ocean and it wasn't until the second last day that we dicovered it was actually the North Sea).

Sandi & I left the "kids" and hiked down to find the closest pub and recoup over a pint. We had a great dinner, and split up to meet later that night. We were fortunate to find tickets onlne while we were in Ireland to the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo. What an amazing show! We all enjoyed it thouroughly, one of the highlights of the trip.

For our last day we did some touring around Edinburgh and made sure to visit a few more pubs, Daniel, Sandi and I met up later in the afternoon to tour Edinburgh Castle while Gloria (she had already toured the castle on a previous trip) went to a Fringe show. We met up for a final dinner together and went home to pack and a final game of Catch Phrase (which the neighbours in the flat above did not appreciate). I did manage to pop into my favourite meat pie store on the way back to the Airbnb to pack a pie for our flight home.

Woke up for a hike with our luggage through the streets of Edinburgh to the bus station then to the airport. We had a fairly uneventful trip home aside from me getting stopped at every security check point and customs because of my meat pie, it was worth it, DELICIOUS!

We had a wonderful trip with wonderful people, we are feeling very blessed for the experiences, stories and memories.
